We’re Growing!

What a great start today to our new 8:30 a.m. class! I want to thank everyone who came out. Lots of learning and laughs. I really enjoyed meeting everyone and look forward to getting to know you more over the coming weeks.

Anyone who wants to join is welcome. It’s geared toward beginners who want to work on their technique. Then we’ll do a set or two that can be handled by swimmers just starting out – or getting back into shape

Feel free to spread the word to anyone who is interested.

Nice work from the 7 a.m. group.

Our focus was on fewest strokes per length in freestyle, and reducing/holding that count.

We got the count after warmup – and then went through a progression of drills aimed at lengthening your stroke (side to side; 6-kick switch; triple switch). Then we got a new stroke count AFTER those drills – and everyone saw a reduced count.

In our main set, there were two areas of focus:

1. Big descend for each round of 4.

2. Hitting that low stroke count in the middle 100 of the easy 200.

Set:

4×100 desc 1-4 @ 1:30

200 easy middle 100 fewest strokes

4×75 @ 1:10

200 easy

4×50 :50

200 easy

4×25 @ :30

200 easy

If you ordered a shirt, they’re here! Pick yours up at practice. I ordered a few extras, so if you want one, just let me know. ($12 each)

John Gerst says they rock.
